Research and development of computational software that highly utilize the capability of modern and emerging architectures is a high-priority (though not widely publicized) activity within the Intel Software and Services Group. In this talk, I will give some snapshots of selected projects in this broad area of activities including special functions and basic linear algebra work related to heterogeneous computing, low-communication FFT for modern architecture, and sponsorship of academic work in scalable high-performance linear-algebra solvers.
